Hello everyone! Today I am here to talk to you all about skincare and how important it is to take care of your skin, especially in the present day. The topic of skincare pertains to everyone! I will be writing a skincare series of blogposts that will cover all skincare concerns when it comes to making sure your skin is healthy.
I am well on my way to clear and healthy skin, although I am not entirely there yet. This blogpost will cover my top six pro tips when it comes to taking care of your skin.
without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Pro tip #1: Sleep!
Getting an adequate amount of sleep is something that I cannot stress enough. it is proven that the more sleep you get, the more luminous your complexion will be the following morning. While you sleep, your facial muscles are at rest. This allows fine lines to relax and smooth out while sleeping. The blood flows through your face giving you a glow and smooth complexion as the elasticity of skin can also repair itself while you are sleeping.
Pro tip #2: Drink Enough Water
Another aspect that is so vital to not only your skin’s health but your body’s health as well. Drinking water helps flush the toxins out of your skin. It even helps with puffy or under eye bags. Drinking water will visibly help decrease the puffiness in your under eyes. Drinking water also helps clear your skin, and is the number one beverage to drink all day, everyday; not to mention refreshing.
Pro tip #3: Eat clean
Your diet is everything when it comes to taking care of your skin. You do not need to go clean over night and cut everything out of your diet, that is more counterproductive than anything. Start with baby steps and eliminate a little bit at a time.
Cutting dairy or the amount of dairy in your diet can do wonders for your skin. I have done the same, and have seen such great improvement. Cutting all processed foods (or the amount of daily intake) as well as foods with high sugar and sodium will also improve the overall health of your skin.

Pro tip #4: Switch up your cleanser
Once you find the perfect few cleansers that work with your skin type, switching them up every few days is a good idea. If you use one cleanser at a time, your skin will adapt to that cleanser and it will no longer give you the amazing results you started out with. (If you want to know more about the cleansers that I use, comment down below).
*Knowing your skin and how it reacts to different products is a lesson of trial and error. switching up your cleanser is only affective when you understand what your face needs on a nightly basis. Whether your skin be tired, dry, oily, or breaking out having something on hand that you know will help nourish and repair your skin is key.
Note that your skin will not change overnight even if you know that a product works really well with your skin. Your skin takes time to heal, don’t be discouraged by this!
Pro tip #5: Clean those makeup brushes + wear less makeup
chances are the reason you’re acne isn’t going away is because your makeup brushes are dirty. The makeup that builds up on brushes touches your skin when you’re reapplying your daily makeup a month later — not such a pretty picture. Cleaning your brushes every two weeks is recommended. You also don’t have to spend a fortune on buying specialized makeup brush cleansers. Baby shampoo does wonders and is far more cheaper than what you’ll find at Sephora.
Which brings us to the obvious, not wearing as much makeup! a full face of makeup, everyday, is terrible for your skin. It not only ages your skin, but your pores don’t get to “breathe” because there is makeup set over them. Having a clean and fresh face over the weekend helps your skin recover from all of the makeup you’ve applied during the week. that being said, wearing a lighter foundation, concealer, or even a mineral powder is something much more realistic and healthy in terms of light coverage makeup.
Pro tip #6: Apply sunscreen
The holy grail of keeping your skin beautiful in an environmentally damaging world. We co-exist with pollution and although its effects cannot visibly be seen, it is aging and damaging our skin. Sunscreen protects your skin from the ever-growing harshness of the sun and other pollutants. Investing in a sunscreen made for your face, that comes in a lighter formula is a great way to start getting into the habit of applying it everyday (yes even during the winter).
Note: When applying, don’t forget your neck!
A blogpost with the products that I use will follow this post!
