Hi Loves! I took it upon myself, an avid kombucha lover, to try to see what benefits I could get from drinking Kombucha every day for a week. I was able to do this thanks to Gutsy Kombucha and loved my results.
For those who don’t know, I love kombucha! I’ve been drinking the fermented tea for a few years now and discovered it along my journey to finding the right diet and lifestyle for me.
Many websites claim that you can benefit from Kombucha but I wanted to see how I would feel for myself and report back to you guys so I could give you the honest truth. And I can personally say that for someone who suffers from digestive issues, this was truly something helped make me feel so much better.
A Little Bit About Kombucha
Tea in itself has many benefits, but one of the great things about kombucha is that it’s a good source of probiotics that help the gut by populating it with ‘good bacteria’. This is one of the main reasons why I love the drink so much because I’ve found probiotics to be a lifesaver. Probiotics can be found in foods and beverages that are fermented, meaning that you can find its bacterial culture in this tea beverage.
Kombucha gets its bacterial cultures (probiotics) from something called a ‘SCOBY’ (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) which will actually also transform the taste of Kombucha to give it the tangy and fizzy consistency that you taste. this factors in the process of fermentation which is similar to the making of the popular Korean side dish Kimchi for reference.
My Week-Long Kombucha Experience
First of all I just wanted to say that I’ve tried many different kombucha brands but this has very quickly become my favourite. Some Kombucha’s are extremely tangy and Fizzy making them very strong and others are very subtle and light. However, Gutsy Kombucha, falls in the middle of the scale making it just right.
Gutsy Kombucha also uses medicinal plants that give their Kombucha flavours a little something different, which is totally refreshing in a pretty saturated market. Some of the plants that can be found in their Kombucha are fennel, Rhodiola, astragalus, and mint. They add something unique to the flavour of the tea that I haven’t found anywhere else!
Benefits And Thoughts
I loved my experience and would definitely do this again. Although I will be sticking to drinking it a few times a week from now on unless I need the extra kick. The whole point of this was to drink it long enough to see results, because normally, you don’t have to drink kombucha every day to see its benefits.
If you’re someone who suffers from digestive issues, severe and/ or uncomfortable bloating, or even IBS, this is definitely something that you can incorporate into your diet and lifestyle to alleviate symptoms.
Drinking the Kombucha for the entirety of the week really helped my digestive system. My body felt light and I was only slightly bloated if I overate that day. I loved the way my body felt: It didn’t feel ‘congested’ and I the lagging fatigue that often comes with digestive issues was also less apparent.
I want to disclaim that everyone’s body functions differently and therefore this may not be the end all ‘cure’ to bloating, IBS or digestive symptoms for everyone. Although, I think it is worth a shot to figure out what works for you!
If you’re not drinking Kombucha for these specific benefits, it is a decently good source of probiotics, which is something that all of us benefit from! Therefore, bottom line – try Kombucha out if you’re curious!
