Travel Diaries: The Fairmont Chateau Frontenac

Hi loves! I recently traveled to Quebec City for a little weekend getaway and it was absolutely magical. This is all thanks to the Fairmont Frontenac for their hospitality and excellent service. Our stay at the hotel was a dream.

We stayed for two nights in the most beautiful and cozy suite. I truly felt like I was in Paris. The bathroom had these adorable little french doors that I absolutely loved. I now want doors like that in my future home *sighs*. The view from our window on the 16th floor was breathtaking. It overlooked old Quebec and we could see everything from above.

Traveling during a pandemic definitely changes things, and I was happy to see that they took necessary precautions to sanitize and protect their guests. Upon entering the first time, our temperature was taken, and then taken again every morning of our stay. They also had hand sanitization stations at the doors of the hotel that was mandatory as well as a bunch throughout the hotel, including the elevators. Our room also had a little bag filled with masks, hand sanitizer, wipes and gloves. It definitely was a nice precaution.

We got into Quebec City on Friday during the afternoon and got ourselves settled into the hotel. They were very accommodating and lovely to talk with. I’ve stayed at another Fairmont location and what I will say about both of them is that the customer service is undeniably exceptional. Shortly after we got into our room, they surprised us with a cute little plate of macaroons and some sparkling water. It was such a lovely touch and they were the first thing that had went into my mouth that day (which was definitely a good start to the day).

The rest of that evening, after exploring Old Quebec a little, we enjoyed the room and watched the beautiful sunset from our window. Honestly, it was spectacular and I totally took a moment to nap once it was over.

We woke up early (for me), and went downstairs for breakfast which was delicious. We were sat right beside the window with a view of the boardwalk and river. It was a beautiful and unexpected touch. All of the seating was spaced out and plexiglass dividers were also hung up to ensure social distancing which was super comforting. All waiters wore a mask too. Speaking of waiters, we loved ours. He was so enjoyable to speak with and gave amazing service. Honestly, it was nice waking up knowing that a full and luxurious breakfast was waiting for us. I think it’s one of the things we enjoyed the most (We’re two very big foodies).

Later in the day, we walked around Old Quebec, took some fun photos which are sprinkled all over this blog post and then headed towards Sainte-Anne and île D’orléans for the rest of the day.

We stopped back at the hotel to refresh before heading out for dinner at one of the best Italian restaurants in Old Quebec called Sapristi. If you’re there, you should definitely try it. We really enjoyed our meal.

One thing that I loved about the hotel as well was how convenient the valet parking was. Because we were in and out of the hotel a lot on Saturday, we called for the car quite a few times. It was at the front within fifteen minutes – honestly it was always there within less than ten minutes – and made life so easy while we stayed there. If you’ve ever been to Quebec, you know that there is literally no place that you’ll find parking in the old city, so having this option was great.

We spent the rest of the night in relaxing, snacking and snapping some photos. One thing that I also loved was one of the channels they had available. it was one that just played older movies non-stop and I totally stayed up until 2 a.m. watching Taken, starring Liam Neeson.

We woke up a little earlier for breakfast on our last morning at the Chateau Frontenac. This time around we also got croissants, and I’ve been craving them ever since then (just think flaky and buttery). Also I just want to explain how good the food was – I don’t like breakfast beans. Never have. never really will. But I enjoyed these ones and actually ate them. I was shocked with myself to say the least. The food was really something I enjoyed and I’ll be trying their other restaurants next time I visit.

We spent the rest of the morning up in our room until it was time to check out. What I loved about The Fairmont Chateau Frontenac is that checkout was at noon. This gave us much more time to relax and we didn’t have to freak out about getting up early and packing in a rush.

One thing that the Fairmont also does is texts you and is available to you via text anytime during your stay. you don’t have to go down to the front desk or even pick up the phone in your room and call them. You just text them on your phone and they respond with an answer to your question in a few minutes. They check in on you and your experience to make sure everything is alright and honestly, its such a nice touch and shows you how much the fairmont really goes out of their way to make your stay everything you want it to be.

Overall Experience

I love the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac and can’t wait to go back and stay there again. you’re paying for an experience and customer service like no other. The whole two days were fun, relaxing and luxurious thanks to the staff over at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac!
